Address

Satoshi Konishi, The 2nd Director of ISS (FY2011-FY2012)

From 2011, our Institute of Sustainability Science promotes Sustainability Science more strongly under the new framework of Center for the Promotion of Interdisciplinary Education and Research. Started with 5 departments in Kyoto University now has 7, and various interesting and challenging research projects are performed by the collaborations among departments yielding valuable results.  Not only from the 7 departments, we have much more joining partners from inside and the outside of the Kyoto university, from research institutes of national and local governments, industry, and foreign countries.  Particularly young researchers are joining to the activity, and experiencing this new type of research style and methodology, to step up to higher carriers.  To provide a platform to plan and develop innovative collaborative proposals from 7 departments is the new function of our institute, and its keen response to the expectations from the society and its mobility to provide academic capability are valuable advantage of this flexible research group.  To utilize the existing assets and resources currently operated by the member departments by exchanging the services and experiences are also very effective.  I would like to ask new members to join our studies, to propose new idea, to utilize our resources, and to support us to further promote our activity.
